Wheels Up is looking for a Senior Manager, Accounting & Reporting in New York City (hybrid) to join our team of dedicated and passionate professionals, fueled by the most powerful brand in private aviation, as we continue our mission of democratizing the private aviation space through cutting-edge technology and innovative product and service offerings. 

Responsibilities

This person will support the monthly close process and play a key role in preparing and reviewing financial results for internal and external distribution. This role will be responsible for preparing and/or reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and fluctuation analyses related to several technical matters (e.g., leasing, debt, equity, and capitalized internal-use software) as well as performing accounting research and preparing policy and accounting documentation around routine and non-routine transactions. This role will also be responsible for preparing the internal month-end close reporting package as well as facilitating external reporting (Form 10-Q and 10-K). The candidate must be a fast learner, change driver, attentive to detail and willing to roll up their sleeves. The ideal candidate is a  Manager with at least 7 years of experience, including Big 4 accounting experience, and at least 3 years of people management experience. The ideal candidate should have significant experience in technical accounting research.

 

  • Significant involvement in the monthly close process including review of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and fluctuation analyses
  • Preparation and review of key deliverables in the Company’s internal and external reporting processes
  • Document accounting research and conclusions
  • Develop a culture of mentorship, continuous improvement, training, and access in the corporate accounting organization. Develop, motivate, and manage a high-performing team
  • Partner with multiple cross-functional teams, including FP&A, Revenue, Tax and Legal
  • Own a number of crucial SOX controls and document review evidence in a detailed and comprehensive manner, including the review of the completeness and accuracy of the underlying data
  • Be a proactive liaison with external and internal auditors to drive the successful completion of audits

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of accounting experience with at least three years of people management experience
  • Recent Big 4 accounting experience required (within 3 years)
  • Active CPA license required
  • Experience with researching technical accounting topics
  • Experience with preparing and/or reviewing public company filings (10-Qs/10-Ks)
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting with proficient knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Eagerness to learn and willingness to take on new challenges
  • Ability to develop, motivate, and manage a high-performing team
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Attentive to detail with excellent organizational and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Workiva financial reporting tool

Salary Range

The wage range for this position ($140,000 – $180,000 base salary) is determined on a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, such as differences in skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. This wage range has not been adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with where the position may be filled. At Wheels Up, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Your placement within the wage range is primarily based on your qualifications and experience.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
