Responsibilities

Role Overview: What You’ll Be Doing

This role reports to the Senior Vice President – Flight Operations and sets the strategic direction for the training department, ensuring all activities align with regulations, company policies and procedures. The Director, Enterprise Crew Training leads the training department, prioritizing safety and operational efficiency.

 

Your Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Responsible for oversight, design, and delivery of learning development programs, the management of the Wheels Up training team, and our relationship with contracted vendors
  • Significant influence on our culture of operational excellence and must work seamlessly with Flight Standards to exceed our safety, customer service, and operational goals
  • The successful candidate must be a strategic/visionary leader as well as a hands-on contributor with the ability to effectively develop and execute plans
  • Critical to this role is the ability to collaborate cross-functionally, demonstrate versatility, and effectively balance competing priorities

Qualifications

What You Bring to the Table: Education & Certification Requirements

We’re looking for someone who has a unique mix of experience, skills, and passion for what we do:

  • Five (5) years of FAR PART 135 or 121 experience which includes two (2) years of aviation management experience leading teams or comparable military experience
  • Knowledge of FAR 135 pilot training requirements and record-keeping systems
  • Expertise in organizational performance management programs and working closely with senior leadership
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, and organizational skills
  • Must be flexible and detail oriented
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and special projects assigned simultaneously
  • Knowledge of safety management systems (SMS) and their application in training programs
  • Self-starter, enthusiastic, dependable, professional team player
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and implement training programs and courseware
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

The Extras We Value (Preferred Requirements)

While not mandatory, here are some additional things that would make you stand out:

  • Operational experience as a crew member in a 14CFR Part 135 or 121 operations, or Military Aviation experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a management role as a Director of Training, Director of Operations, or other 14CFR Part 119 position or military equivalent

What We Offer: Salary Range & Benefits

At Wheels Up, we believe in fair compensation based on experience, skills, and qualifications. The salary for this role ranges from $165,000 - $220,000, depending on a variety of factors. We don’t typically start individuals at the top of the salary range; your place within the range is based on what you bring to the table. Additionally, you may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program, which rewards individual and organizational performance.
