Responsibilities

Role Overview: What You’ll Be Doing 

We are looking for a thoughtful, detail-oriented problem solver to join our team in a true multidisciplinary HR role in the Atlanta area. This position primarily focuses on various claims like Workers Compensation and Unemployment, while also conducting employee investigations and other duties as assigned.  

 

You will handle a wide range of workplace matters, helping ensure fair and consistent application of company policies while supporting a positive employee experience. We are looking for someone with sound judgment, strong decision-making skills, and a genuine interest in growing within the HR field. 

 

Reporting to the HR Compliance Manager, you will partner closely with cross-functional teams across the organization. You will use digital tools and practical solutions to deliver efficient, high quality HR support to multiple business units.

 

Your Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions) 

Workers’ Compensation Claims 

 

  • Manage the full lifecycle of workers compensation claims across multiple jurisdictions from intake through resolution 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, managers, carriers, and third-party administrators regarding claim status and next steps 
  • Partner with insurance carriers and external counsel to develop claim strategy, monitor reserves, and control overall claim costs 
  • Analyze claim trends and identify risk mitigation strategies to reduce frequency and severity of claims 
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state workers compensation laws and posting requirements 
  • Maintain accurate claim files and documentation in accordance with company policy and audit standards 
  • Conduct regular claim review meetings with carriers and brokers to assess performance and identify opportunities for improvement 
  • Partner with Safety and HR teams to address root causes and implement corrective actions 
  • Support unemployment and leave management coordination where claims intersect with disability or FMLA matters 

Employee Relations Issue Resolution 

  • Conduct impartial investigations into workplace concerns, including performance issues, policy violations, interpersonal conflicts, and allegations of misconduct. 
  • Documenting investigative findings and maintaining accurate case records. 
  • Ensure timely progression and closure for investigations while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. 
  • Collaborating with cross-functional partners including Legal, Labor Relations, Security, and Global Security Investigations to address employee matters and develop proactive strategies. 
  • Analyzing ER data to identify trends and recommend actionable solutions. 
  • Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as required to support team and organizational goals 

 

Other Job Functions 

 

Direct, hands-on experience managing: 

 

  • Unemployment claims, disputes and employer responses for multi-state jurisdictions 
  • Some work regarding leave and leaves administration. 

Qualifications

What You Bring to the Table: Education and Experience 

We’re looking for someone who has a unique mix of experience, skills, and passion for what we do 

  • 3-5+ years of employee relations or HR generalist experience, preferably in a multi-site/jurisdictional environment 
  • Prior experience in Workers Compensation Claims (multi-state) 
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously with strong attention to detail 
  • Demonstrated experience conducting workplace investigations and supporting involuntary terminations. 
  • Familiarity with ADP or other HRIS platforms 
  • High degree of discretion, judgement, and professionalism. 
  • Excellent communication, documentation and organizational skills. 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience in facilitation, presentation, and documentation. 
  • Basic understanding of HR processes and employee lifecycle data. 

The Extras We Value (Preferred Requirements) 

  • Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR regulations, including Title VII, ADA, Workers Compensation, Unemployment, and the FMLA. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and close attention to detail. 
  • Experience driving clarity in ambiguous situations. 
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer 
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and operating office equipment 
  • Ability to speak and hear clearly in person and via phone or video 
  • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, or reach 
  • Ability to lift and move up to 10 to 15 pounds occasionally, such as files or office supplies 
  • Close vision and ability to adjust focus for computer screens and documents

What We Offer: Salary Range & Benefits 

At Wheels Up, we believe in fair compensation based on experience, skills, and qualifications. The yearly salary for this role ranges from $85,000/Yr. - $100,000/Yr. depending on a variety of factors. We don’t typically start individuals at the top of the salary range; your place within the range is based on what you bring to the table. Additionally, you may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program, which rewards individual and organizational performance.
